The point is online dating is a huge industry. It can be difficult to navigate your way through the online dating world if you’re a new visitor. Where do you being? What are the best online dating sites?

Like most of us, you’re probably busy and don’t have a lot of time to waste. You don’t want to spend countless hours wading through dozens of sites trying to figure out which one to use, so we’ve compiled a list of the ones that have proven to be the best online dating sites.

Match.com

Since its inception in 1995, Match.com has been the largest singles dating site on the internet. Subscription charges are reasonable, and since it does have such a big community, your chances of meeting someone are pretty good. The site itself is easy to navigate and provides all the tools you need to build a quality profile.

Free members can create a profile, conduct searches, and send “winks” to people who catch their interest. (You can’t respond to emails until you join.) Paying members can contact singles, use email and instant messaging, and see who has viewed their profile. If you sign up for six months, membership fees are less than $20 a month – plus you have the guarantee that if you don’t find someone in six months, you get six months free.

Match.com ensures you find someone with similar interests with their “mutual match” search option. It helps you find people who match your ideal date as outlined in your profile. You can search within specialty groups such as Christians, African-Americans, and many others. With its high success rate and members in more than 30 countries, Match.com is ideal for serious daters.

eHarmony

Although eHarmony is one of the more expensive dating sites, it has an extremely in-depth compatibility system that matches up people best suited for each other. According to eHarmony, an average of 542 couples are married every day in the United States as a result of being matched on the site. It is very focused on long-term relationships and prides itself on helping people find true love.

You can register for free and receive a personality profile, as well as pre-screened matches – but you will need to subscribe for further activity. The more months you sign up for, the cheaper it is. The site often offers discounts, so check out their special promotions page before joining.

You’ll need quite a bit of time and patience when filling out your profile. The questions are very detailed and creative – attempting to draw out the real you. Be honest and thorough when answering; you will have much better success at meeting someone compatible. Because the strength of eHarmony lies within its deeper profiles, you’ll receive more relevant matches, although fewer choices overall. For meaningful match-ups, eHarmony is very effective.

Zoosk

If you’re a Facebook member, Zoosk might be the best online dating site for you. Its close association with Facebook is one of the main perks, and it has the look and feel of a social networking site. In addition to the typical questions most profiles ask, there is a section where your friends from other sites (like Facebook) can write glowing testimonials about you. You can also choose up to 100 questions you would like someone to ask you to break the ice. These “ice breakers” are a unique addition to the profiles featured on this site.

Zoosk has a lot of perks for free members including free browsing and the ability to email members who show an interest in you. More than 8 million singles log onto Zoosk’s Facebook application every month, easily making the transition from socializing online to dating. It has lots of fun, interesting features, although the search and compatibility options are a little basic. Subscription charges are a bit high, but you can try it out for free to see if it’s the site for you.

Thanks to the constant demand of new online daters, these popular online dating sites will continually work to improve their features. Do a bit of research and find out which site is best for you. With time and patience, you will enjoy the success you hope for.
